PROJECT DESCRIPTION
Inspired by Japanese artist Yayoi Kusama, students will create an organic sculpture using model magic and acrylic paint while applying the principles of repetition, contrast and perspective to Kusama’s signature polka dot motif.
OBJECTIVES
● Students will learn about the life and career of Japanese artist, Yayoi Kusama, and her many forms of art, especially her polka dot motif.
● Students will create a sculpture with model magic and paint the surface using Kusama’s style as an inspiration.
● Students will learn and apply the principles of repetition, contrast and perspective to their projects.
SUPPLIES (Per Student)
● Crayola Model Magic – 1.5 oz/student
● Q tips (4-5) ● Paint brush (#10) – round or flat brush
● Foam Plate (as work surface and paint palette)
● 5”x 6” Foam Core Board (White 20×30”, Dollar Tree)
● Tacky Glue (dime size blob)
SUPPLIES (Shared)
● Blickrylic Paints (red, yellow, orange, blue, green, black and white)
● Blickrylic Polymer Gloss Medium (1:1 mixture of color paints and gloss medium)
● Clay Tools (craft sticks, toothpicks)
