Since 2014, PVAC’s Alpay Scholarship University Student Juried Exhibition: Now Trending has provided annual recognition and financial assistance to emerging artists. We are proud to promote the advancement of student artists through the generous support of Dr. O. Allen Alpay in memory of his wife, Beverly G. Alpay.

Due to COVID restrictions in 2020 we were unable to exhibit Now Trending.  Instead, Still Trending – an online exhibition – revisits six talented artists who won Alpay scholarships or received honorable mention in the past.  Aided by PVAC’s support, each of the featured artists have admirably advanced their careers to new heights.  We are delighted to share their current work.

It has been rewarding for us all to see the ongoing advancement of these artists’ voices and visions.  Each is actively involved in using their vibrant talent – their own vehicle for passionate participation – to focus on contemporary issues.  This selection of art addresses body politics, war and utter devastation, cultural and ritual ties to family, the redefining of phenomenological structures, and life and death itself.  Art can change the world.  These six artists prove they are determined to do just that.
