Join us this Saturday and Sunday, October 3rd and 4th, to celebrate PVAC’s 95th anniversary with free art activities for kids and adults. Art projects will be presented by members of PVAC’s seven artist groups (PVACA), along with instructors from our art in the schools program, Art At Your Fingertips, and volunteers from Earth Studio @PVAC, a new community outreach garden program. All art supplies are free and will be provided with instruction.
Palos Verdes Art Center / Beverly G. Alpay Center for Arts Education, a nonprofit community visual arts school and gallery, inspires individuals to create, appreciate and celebrate art. Founded on May 11, 1931, PVAC’s exhibition, education and outreach programs have grown to make the visual arts available, accessible and affordable.
Palos Verdes Art Center Artists (PVACA) represents seven active artists groups affiliated with the Palos Verdes Art Center. PVACA presents the Malaga Cove Art on the Lawn Shows each year from April through October. More information HERE. Click images above to launch slideshow.
Art At Your Fingertips is a Palos Verdes Art Center school-based visual art outreach program. Started in 1976 by PVAC volunteers dismayed by the loss of art education in the schools, 300 volunteer docents attend ten on-site workshops in order to deliver five, quality, standards-based art projects to 6,000 students grades TK-5 in public and private school on the Palos Verdes Peninsula and the neighboring communities of Long Beach, Redondo Beach, and Torrance.
Experience the program yourself! Children of all ages are invited to create a Halloween pumpkin painting to celebrate the holiday.
Earth Studio @PVAC is a new community outreach program of Palos Verdes Art Center. We’ve partnered with Valmonte Farm & Garden and Palos Verdes Peninsula Unified School District to create a regenerative, seasonal program designed to integrate gardening, food systems, art, and sustainability administered by trained parent volunteers at each school garden site.
Visit our garden at PVAC during the Open House and make your own seed packet to grow plants at home.
On view through November 14 in the Main Gallery, Stand by Me is a retrospective exhibition celebrating noted plein air painter, Stephen Mirich.
Mirich explains, “Painting has taught me that seeing is more than looking—it is an act of quiet attention. Working directly from nature has taught me patience. The landscape is never still. Rather than simply recording what I see, I hope to express what it feels like to be present.”
Docents from PVAC fundraising adjunct, The Circle, will be on hand to assist visitors to both exhibitions throughout the day, and docent tours will be held 2 to 3pm, Saturday and Sunday.
Palos Verdes Art Center / Beverly G. Alpay Center for Arts Education is pleased to present the Studio School Faculty Show, displaying current works by PVAC art instructors.
Represented in the exhibition are Jenna Michele, Paul Brayton, Jo Cladinos, Bernard Fallon, Deborah E. Giese, Curtis Green, Roy Kunisaki, Kelly Lingel, Milli Moto, Adrian Sandstrom, Jennifer Siegal, Lynnie Sterba, Emma Tiedemann, and Mayra Zaragoza.
