Palos Verdes Art Center / Beverly G. Alpay Center for Arts Education is pleased to present Evelyn Schmitt: Tides & Traditions, a solo photography exhibition. Working in the street photography tradition of quick response, she is known for her dynamic shots capturing surfers, skateboarders, and volleyball games on the sand.
Evelyn also chronicles the quieter side of beach life, studying the changing tides and sunsets embracing the famed Pier in the town of Manhattan Beach. Though definitely a SoCal photographer, she travels often to foreign lands, with Africa being one of her favorite destinations. A portion of the show is dedicated to the people of Ethiopia’s remote Omo Valley, revealing glimpses of pastoral life and expressions of personal adornment.
