DESCRIPTION:Doors Open Peninsula 2023: Celebrating 100 Years of History on the Palos Verdes Peninsula\n  \nSpearheaded by the Palos Verdes Library District (PVLD) and the Peninsula Friends of the Library (PFL) in conjunction with our Peninsula cities and organizations\, DOP 2023 commemorates the 100th birthday of the Palos Verdes Peninsula. On June 17th\, 1923 a real estate rally was held on the grounds of the Malaga Cove School (now the PVPUSD Administration Building) to entice people to purchase property here. The rally drew over 32\,000 people from all over the southland and is basically what launched the modern development of the Peninsula! \nMeetup at the DOP Hub! Malaga Cove\, Real Estate Rally at site of future Malaga Cove Plaza 2\nJune 17\, 2023\n9:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m.\n375 Vía Almar\nPalos Verdes Estates\, CA 90274\nNow the Palos Verdes Peninsula Unified District Office\, this is where the original real estate rally was held 100 years ago! On June 17\, it is the main gathering spot\, family-friendly with plenty of parking. \nThe Hub will be a good place to start or end a tour of the Peninsula. Or stay for a while to visit the tables\, view the Model T cars\, meet the therapy ponies\, and members of the Palos Verdes Symphonic band for festive music. \nPick up your DOP passport at the Hub or any library location and visit all the sites including: \nNike Missile Silo\nLa Venta Inn\nPalos Verdes Art Center\nMalaga Cove Library\nKelly’s Korner\nNeighborhood Church\nHistoric plaques\nPt.
