DESCRIPTION:The Summer Show\nJuly 18 – August 22\nOpening Reception: Saturday\, July 18 – 7:00 to 9:00 pm \nPalos Verdes Art Center is pleased to announce The Summer Show\, a juried all-media exhibition hosted by and open for submission only to members of the Palos Verdes Art Center’s seven active artists groups: Artists Open Group\, Pacific Arts Group\, Paletteers\, Peninsula Artists\, Photographic and Digital Artists\, The Artists Studio\, and The Third Dimension. \nJUROR: MICHAEL DAVIS \nMichael Davis received his MFA from CSU Fullerton and maintains a studio in San Pedro\, California. He has had over thirty-three solo and sixty-five group exhibitions in the U.S. and abroad for museums and galleries and city\, state and federal arts agencies. Davis has received two National Endowment for the Arts fellowships\, the Hand Hollow Arts Fellowship\, and an AIA Award of Excellence and has been a visiting artist and guest at numerous university forums. \n  \nIMAGE: Melinda Barth\, A Fine Kettle of Fish\, 2026\, stoneware and porcelain. DESCRIPTION:Evelyn Schmitt: Tides & Traditions\nJuly 18 – August 22\, 2026 \nOpening Reception: Saturday\, July 18\, 7 – 9pm \n\n\n\n\n\n\nPalos Verdes Art Center / Beverly G. Alpay Center for Arts Education is pleased to present Evelyn Schmitt: Tides & Traditions\, a solo photography exhibition. Working in the street photography tradition of quick response\, she is known for her dynamic shots capturing surfers\, skateboarders\, and volleyball games on the sand. \nEvelyn also chronicles the quieter side of beach life\, studying the changing tides and sunsets embracing the famed Pier in the town of Manhattan Beach. Though definitely a SoCal photographer\, she travels often to foreign lands\, with Africa being one of her favorite destinations. A portion of the show is dedicated to the people of Ethiopia’s remote Omo Valley\, revealing glimpses of pastoral life and expressions of personal adornment.
