She is the Arts Editor for the LA Weekly\, and a contributor to Flaunt\, Art and Cake\, Artillery\, Palm Springs Life. \nShe studied Art History at Vassar College\, writes essays for books and catalogs\, curates and juries a few exhibitions each year\, is a dedicated Instagram photographer and author of experimental short fiction\, and speaks at galleries\, schools\, and cultural institutions nationally. DESCRIPTION:THE SUMMER SHOW\nJuried by Neil Gaiman and Lowell Nickel \nJULY 19 – AUGUST 24\, 2019\, opening reception July 19\, 7–9pm \nThe Summer Show is a juried all-media exhibition hosted by and open for submission only to members of the Palos Verdes Art Center’s eight active artists’ groups: Artists Open Group\, Pacific Arts Group\, Paletteers\, Palos Verdes Painters\, Peninsula Artists\, Photographic and Digital Artists\, The Artist’s Studio\, and Third Dimension. \nJuror for Two-Dimensional Art: Neil Gaiman. Renowned author\, Neil Gaiman\, will bring fresh eyes and a new approach to art jurying. His creative output includes comic books\, short fiction\, novels\, and film. Recent TV and film adaptions of his work include CORALINE and AMERICAN GODS. He is also an essayist and teacher as illustrated in MAKE GOOD ART and ART MATTERS. Included among his numerous awards are the coveted Carnegie and Newbury medals and the Hugo award. \nJuror for Three-Dimensional Art: Lowell Nickel. Lowell’s Southern Calif. artist experience starts in the late 1970s. Lowell earned his BA in ceramics and MFA in drawing and painting from Cal State Long Beach. His exhibitions include his painting\, ceramic earth art and mixed-media installations in the beach cities area.

Our camp program is designed to spark interest in healthy fresh foods with interactive activities that allow your young campers to explore their creative garden and culinary sides. \nOur Farmer-Chef instructors will show campers how to harvest fresh fruits\, vegetables\, and herbs from our own edible garden for every class. Campers will be awakened to new tastes\, learn new culinary techniques and use local season produce to prepare recipes from cuisines around the world while learning how nutrition\, math\, science\, art\, and history can be discovered on their plate.
