There is plenty of free parking. \n

DESCRIPTION:ARTIST TALK: Karena Massengill\nmoderated by Melina Paris \nSaturday\, June 20\, 1 – 3pm \nArtist Karena Massengill works in both two and three dimensions\, often beginning with a drawing on watercolor paper that becomes the pattern for a steel sculpture. As she traces the design with metal\, the heat of the welding scorches the original image on paper. Out of this deliberate destruction emerges something new — a color-rich impression that reframes and deepens the original concept. Shown together\, the burned drawing and the sculpture it inspired trace a journey of evolution\, spiritual discovery\, and self-reflection. \nMelina Paris is an accomplished arts journalist\, podcast producer\, and cultural advocate. For more than a decade\, she has illuminated the artistic landscape of Los Angeles\, particularly focusing on the Harbor area. Through in-depth interviews and compelling narratives with artists of many mediums\, she delves into their creative processes\, often examining themes of social justice and environmental consciousness.

We would be grateful to receive your good quality items\, such as art\, china\, ceramics\, silver\, fine & costume jewelry\, linens\, unique clothing\, holiday decorations\, antiques\, home decor\, glassware\, small furniture\, clocks\, objets d’ art. Our first take-in day for donations is Wednesday\, July 1\, from 11am – 2pm. DESCRIPTION:The Summer Show\nJuly 18 – August 22\nOpening Reception: Saturday\, July 18 – 7:00 to 9:00 pm \nPalos Verdes Art Center is pleased to announce The Summer Show\, a juried all-media exhibition hosted by and open for submission only to members of the Palos Verdes Art Center’s seven active artists groups: Artists Open Group\, Pacific Arts Group\, Paletteers\, Peninsula Artists\, Photographic and Digital Artists\, The Artists Studio\, and The Third Dimension. \nJUROR: MICHAEL DAVIS \nMichael Davis received his MFA from CSU Fullerton and maintains a studio in San Pedro\, California. He has had over thirty-three solo and sixty-five group exhibitions in the U.S. and abroad for museums and galleries and city\, state and federal arts agencies. Davis has received two National Endowment for the Arts fellowships\, the Hand Hollow Arts Fellowship\, and an AIA Award of Excellence and has been a visiting artist and guest at numerous university forums. \n  \nIMAGE: Hazel Breen\, Water Fall\, 2023\, acrylic on canvas.
